Why I Read, Share, and Educate on Financial Literacy
I wasn’t taught financial literacy growing up. Not a little — none of it. My father is a construction worker, a lifetime physical worker who earned every dollar with his body, and finance was never part of the conversation in our home because it was never part of his. That isn’t a knock on my parents. It’s the exact gap that Kevinomics Consulting exists to close.
On the origin of Kevinomics Consulting, and who it’s for. Educational content — not legal, tax, or financial advice.
Where I Started
My parents divorced when I was four. Having two parents around to even talk to — about life, let alone money — just wasn’t my reality. I was raised largely by my father, and my father worked. Construction, physical labor, roughly 8am to 8pm just about every single day. He’s an honest, hardworking man who did his best to take care of his only son, and he did it the only way he knew how: by showing up and grinding, day after day.
What he gave me was the example of discipline and showing up — and that is no small thing. But money, credit, structure, how wealth actually gets built and kept? Those things were never in our house, because they were never in his. You can’t teach what was never taught to you. I left home knowing how to work hard and almost nothing about how to make that work compound.

So I learned the way a lot of people do: by making the mistakes myself and paying full price for the lesson. Earning money in a dozen different ways — acting, physical products, crypto, agencies — and slowly figuring out that earning it and keeping it are two completely different skills. The second one is the one almost nobody teaches.
The Gap Nobody Was Teaching
Here’s what I came to understand: most people aren’t bad with money. They were just never shown the parts that actually matter, and the people who do know rarely explain it plainly. People grind to make money, then lose it to bad structure, weak credit, no system, and decisions made in the dark. It isn’t a discipline problem. It’s an information problem — and information gaps get passed down from one generation to the next until somebody breaks the cycle.
That information exists, but it’s usually locked behind jargon, gatekeepers, or someone trying to sell you something complicated. I wanted the opposite — to take what I’d actually lived through and hand it to the next person clearly, so the lesson costs them a conversation instead of a five-figure mistake.
Plain English, Not Jargon
Kevinomics Consulting has one rule above all: say it plainly. If a concept can’t be explained to a smart person who simply hasn’t been exposed to it yet, I’m not explaining it well enough. Structure, credit, cash strategy, how money actually moves — none of it requires a finance degree. It requires someone willing to teach it straight, without the fog that keeps people dependent. The kid I used to be needed exactly that, and never got it.
Who It’s For
Kevinomics Consulting is for the person a few steps behind where I am — the earner who keeps too little, the hard worker who was never handed the financial playbook, the person ready to do the work but missing the map. Especially the people who, like me, came up in a home where finance was never discussed because it was never known. Not the already-wealthy chasing exotic strategies. The capable person who was simply never shown how the system works and is done guessing.
“My father earned every dollar with his hands, but money and credit were never taught in our home because they were never known. Kevinomics Consulting exists to break that cycle.”
Reading, Learning, Sharing
There’s a personal engine underneath all of it: I genuinely enjoy reading, learning, and sharing. I read constantly, I chase down what I don’t understand, and the part I love most is passing it on. Everything I figured out the hard way is worth more when I hand it to someone else — that’s how knowledge gets a second life. Watching someone finally understand their own money and feel in control of something that used to control them is the same feeling I had helping actors book roles. The work matters because the people behind it do.
None of this is financial advice — it’s education, drawn from what I’ve actually lived. What you do with it is your call. But you’ll at least be making the call with the lights on, which is more than I had starting out.
