How I Booked a National McDonald's Commercial

Booking a National McDonald’s Commercial

Booking a national McDonald’s commercial wasn’t a lucky break. It was the result of saying yes to every room, treating every audition like it mattered, and showing up the exact same way whether ten people were watching or one casting assistant was running late.

The Room Doesn’t Care How You Feel

By the time the McDonald’s audition came up, I had already sat in more casting rooms than I could count. Most of them ended in silence. That’s the part nobody tells you about a commercial career — the booking everyone sees is built on a stack of rooms nobody ever hears about.

McDonald’s is one of the most recognizable brands on the planet. When you book a spot for a company that size, you’re not just acting — you’re representing something millions of people see. I walked in treating it like the work it was: prepared, on time, and ready to do it again twenty times if they asked.

Same Spot, Different Takes

The two videos above are the same commercial — different takes. That’s the part of the job most people never see. On a national spot you might run the same few seconds of action dozens of times: same energy, same timing, take after take, hour after hour. The brand picks the one that lands. Your job is to make every single take usable.

People assume commercial acting is about being naturally charismatic. It’s not. It’s about being reliable. Can you hit the mark, deliver the line, take the adjustment, and do it again identically? That’s a skill you build, not a gift you’re born with — and it’s exactly what separates the actors who work from the ones still waiting.

The Standard Doesn’t Move

I decided early that my standard wasn’t going to depend on the room or the take. Big audition, small audition, take one or take forty — same preparation, same focus, same respect for the work. When you build that into yourself, you stop riding the emotional waves that sink most careers.

“Big room or small room, take one or take forty — the standard doesn’t move. That decision is what separated me from the people still waiting.”

What It Proved

Personal branding and trust can be built from zero in any competitive market. No agent handed me that career. No connections opened the door. Discipline and execution did — the same two things I’ve carried into every business I’ve built since. The commercial faded. The discipline didn’t.
