CLAUDE COWORK LAUNCHES. AI BOTS WORK WHILE YOU SLEEP.

On March 23, 2026, Anthropic launched Claude Computer Use Agent in research preview. Combined with Claude Cowork — launched January 2026 — this creates a system where an AI agent takes control of your computer, opens applications, browses the web, fills spreadsheets, writes documents, sends communications, and completes multi-step workflows from a single instruction you send from your phone. You describe the outcome. Claude executes it. You come back to finished work.

What Claude Cowork Actually Does

Claude Cowork gives Claude permission-based access to local folders and your browser. Through the Dispatch feature released in late March 2026, you can message Claude a task from your phone and it executes on your desktop — even while you are away. It can run multiple tasks in parallel, schedule recurring tasks, and handle workflows that previously required a full-time employee. One demonstration: a user running late messages Claude to export a pitch deck as PDF and attach it to a meeting invite. Claude opens the app, exports, attaches, and confirms — without the user touching their computer.

“The difference between a business that sleeps and a business that works 24/7 is now a $17/month subscription.”

Microsoft Saw It and Built On Top of It

In March 2026, Microsoft announced Copilot Cowork — built in close collaboration with Anthropic, using the same agentic infrastructure as Claude Cowork. Satya Nadella promoted it personally on X. Microsoft’s share price dropped more than 14% when Claude Cowork was first announced in January because the market understood the implications for traditional SaaS businesses that charge for software people now have AI doing automatically.

What This Means for Business Owners

The businesses that set this up in 2026 have an asymmetric advantage. A system that works while the owner sleeps. Handles repetitive tasks without error. Never takes a day off. Costs less than $20 per month. The businesses that wait will be competing against companies running at a structurally lower cost base. I have watched this same dynamic play out across every market I have entered early. The early mover just needs to recognize the window and move before it closes.

How to Get Started

Claude Cowork is available through the Claude Desktop app at claude.ai. Pro plan is $17/month. Max plan starts at $100/month. Mac is fully supported. Windows arm64 support is still limited as of April 2026. The Dispatch feature for phone-triggered tasks requires Pro or Max.
